    Default Playing dumb pays off

    Hello all,
While running errands today in town, I stopped by a small antique store to see what they had. Well, after browsing around for a few minutes, I brought a slim and a red tip up to the counter for checkout. The guy behind the counter says "You know those things will cut you up, right?" I nodded to acknowledge the comment. Well, the store owner proceeds to tell me about the razors ( a slim and red tip) and how they're better than the older three piece razors. I showed him a Tech I had just purchased from the store next door, and he said "yeah, like that - those will cut you up bad!" The whole time I'm just nodding and "soaking up" the misinformation. Anyway, during his discourse, he tells me he has a box of razors (in excellent condition) at his house. They were his grandfather's and were given to him by his dad. I asked if he was interested in selling them. He said he was and he'll bring them up to the shop for me to look at the next time I'm in town. Looks like a little patience will pay off. Now, I just need to be patient until I can check them out.
So, what's the lesson.....enduring a little can reap great rewards.

I hope that guy never "sees the light" and finds out how great DE's are. Imagine how pissed you'd be if you just sold off your grandfather's razors!

Another good trick is to bring a friend and discuss how that razor is kind of neat but that neither of you could see someone paying $3 for it; maybe $1.50 tops, but not $3. Then you launch into the spiel about how your dad might think it's kind of neat, but you left your wallet at home and only have $5 cash on you so you'll probably have to walk away from the sale. Then, when that's all done and over with, pick up a second razor and ask for a discount because you're buying the first one.

That's weird... how could a guy have a bad experience with a Tech? Even with a dull razor I think it would maybe not cut the hair, but it wouldn't cut my skin either... I probably couldn't keep a straight face if he had said that to me... I'd try to keep it in, but the corners of my mouth would keep curling, I just know it...

I'm looking forward to checking out the other razors. I'm sure I'll be given some more warnings and information, but I can endure it for the sake of a good deal - not to mention a good laugh. The store is part of the Antique Village in Denham Springs, LA - I could tell you where to find the beat up gold tech I left if you're interested . But the box of razors is MINE!
