Back side of leather strop?

I suspect this has been asked before but I'm word search challenged....

The rough side of the leather, does anyone use it...if so how, why, etc....

Some use it and prefer it to the finished side. Experiment. To each his own.

I don't. Some do. YMMV. Try it if you are curious.

I might just do it but i need to find a razor that i dont care enough about if it gets messed up....lol

I use the back side of my strop for my pocket knives. I wouldn't chance leaving a rough edge on my razor. My SWATY barber hone taught me that a sharp edge can also be very rough, and it now resides in my tackle box with my filet knife.
I like my strop pasted on the back for my pocket knives. It seems to work well for me.
