Solvent repair to plastic scale

I have a question regarding solvent welding of Masecraft Tortuga scale material. I tried to solvent weld one set with lacquer thinner and it didn't do anything to the scale halves and didn't hold either. Does anyone know what solvent to use to get the edges soft enough to weld?

Is there a glue for plastic that will make a solid joint?

OT comment to Slash, lapping film tamed to edges on two of my recent manufacture Germans, a Dovo Best Quality and a Revisor 6/8 French point. They had both been honed sharp of a Naniwa 12K, but the films were noticeably smoother.

The Masecraft faux tortoise is polyester... So epoxy? Super glue? Do you have a scrap piece to test with?

Have a glued up trial on 4 mil brass. If that holds, will use it that way and plan on sanding down the Tortuga. Will check back in the AM.
