General Advice

Hi,
Hopefully this is in the right place....For my morning shave i use atm my Gillette SS,Brush & Cream/Soap.
I'm looking to up my game & use something after, this is where i need advice.
Thayers....this is used after my shave & cold face wash?
Then use the likes of Fine & Floid....are these like Paco Rabanne,Hugo Boss etc?

I am looking for a classic smell, nothing overpowering

Cheers

Ian

I also like "classic" in the barbershop mold. My top choices do include both Fine (especially American blend) and Floid (especially vigoroso). To those I would add Speick, OS classic, and Pinaud (especially clubman, although there are many good options in this line).

If you're into classics, you can do a lot worse than some of my favourites............

Aqua Velva Ice Blue and Musk
Brut Classic, Original and Splash On
Denim Original
Floid Vigaroso
Jovan Musk
Old Spice Original, Fresh Lime and Musk
Pinaud Clubman Special Reserve
Pino Silvestre
Proraso Green Splash
Tabac Original
Varon Dandy
Williams Expert Aqua Velva

Purely as curios, some of the Russian colognes are worth trying

Russian Forest - mossy/woody
Shipr - spicy/woody
Troynoy - lemon zest

Remember that regardless of what Aftershave you buy step into your local chemist and pick up a bottle of Nivea sensitive AS balm

I forgot to mention I have some of that already.

Thanks for the advice guys,i need to make a purchase.....or two

Start with either one bottle of Myrsol, Floid or Proraso.
Just one. No more.
Use for a couple weeks.
Then let us know your impressions!

I'm going to have to cast a vote for Mennen Skin Bracer: available everywhere, economical, and a classic...I've been using it for decades.

I'll also second/third the votes for:

Fine American Blend
Proraso Refresh
Speick

And for special occasions: Paco Rabanne Pour Homme

I suggest picking up a Stirling AS sample pack. I think it's $10 for 4 bottles, and they're lasting me quite a long time. I'm very generous with the amount I use and I don't see a dent in any of the bottles, yet. My favorite scent so far is Vanilla Sandalwood!
