What's new

If I were to lift a SE razor to my face for the first time.

Just got an order in from Try-A-Blade on Friday (yesterday). I placed the order on the 25th (Monday). I am pleased with the speed of delivery. :) I would order from him again.

I got two each of the offered GEM blades. :)

There is some plate loss on the head, but it seems to be in good user condition.

So here it is:

This one bears the 1914 patent date:

Typical old school SE:

This has the lift tabs on the top cap:

Overall appears in decent shape, nothing bent or warped to my eye. This is going to require a change in methodology for sure. Plan to break it out with a brand new Gem Personna stainless blade this weekend!

1914's are great shavers - congratulations!

Quickie guide to SE razor identification:

1912: Opens by pressing tab at center of rear side of cap. May be Gem, Ever-Ready, Star.

1914: Has no tab, has "LIFT HERE" stamped on edges of cap. Ever-Ready only

1924: Cap is hinged at front, attached at the ends of the comb. Ever-Ready only

Look what I found at auction ... I got two New Old Stock Shovelheads in a little 'kit' ... there was a third too ... and one in a chrome metal box ....

Couldn't believe my luck - but I like a 1912 Gem over a Ever-Ready Shovelhead.
