Default Aftershave with a real bite

    Greetings all,

First time poster, very long time lurker.

Currently I use Royall Lyme aftershave that I picked up in Bermuda a few years ago. I love the bite and burn of this stuff after a good shave. I am thinking it might be time to further my horizons. Anything else out there that would bite and burn equal to, if not greater than Royall Lyme? I do use Old Spice every now and then, but it doesn't bite nearly as much.

Clubman Pinaud, the yellow kind, gives a great alcohol burn. And it smells fantastic.

RL has a slow burn to it that almost seems to be on a timer. (... but it's tough to find a scent more wonderful).

I've tried 2 other products that have the same effect ... Proraso AS splash and DR Harris Arlington AS. Very different scents, but the same effect.

    FWIW,

Welcome to B&B, I would have to go with Pinaud Bay Rum for burn as well. It's a great daily splash for work. I also like the Clubman Pinaud.....

    The Clubman is no joke.

I either like the Aqua Velva (hardly any burn followed by great cooling sensation)

    or

Pinaud. . .favorite aftershave smell with a burn that is pretty strong. . .but still not as much as old spice which is pretty insane.

What is with the new packaging of Pinaud Clubman lately and the added ingredients on the label? Tell me there has not been a reformulation!

    OLD

New one has a grayish label (more corporate looking) and more added ingredients? Couldnt find it online but I will snap a pic of it next time I am in Rite Aid.

If you want burn, you have to try L'Occitane Eau des Bergers.

The "change" is actually just a requirement by certain organizations that all potentially allergy-inducing ingredients be on the label. The formula is the same, so you may sleep easy tonight.

alright, for the perfect burn i suggest the following:

merkur 39c loaded with a feather blade, min. 3 passes shave, one or two against the grain, and then put on Pinaud Bay Rum right after !

I tried the Feather blades Friday for the first time and when I splashed on the Bay Rum you could hear me scream a mile away.

    Exhilarating!

+1 on the Pinaud Bay Rum and Pinaud Clubman. Also, I found that the Aqua Velva Musk burns like the fires of hell when you splash that stuff on too .

I can't believe nobody has suggested an alum bar yet. You want some burn...?

It does reduce razor burn and tighten pores, but it's quite...bracing.

I spashed on Old Spice from a brand new bottle after a very close shave on Sunday.

I gripped the edge of the sink like a girl and wished it would stop burning.

It burned so much I went blind and deaf for a couple of seconds.
