Which strop to get? Beginner suggestions?

Hi all,

I just purchased a shave-ready razor that will be shipping to me soon.

Now I am looking for a strop.

I'm thinking it should be 3" wide to make it a bit easier while I'm learning.

I was thinking I should get a canvas/linen + leather one, but maybe that is overkill for right now?

Any suggestions for specific strops would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Nevermind--ended up going with a Tony Miller heirloom + practice strop. I'll use the practice one for a bit until I feel confident I won't damage the nice one.

Tony makes an excellent strop, I have several and his attention to detail is wonderful.

Perfect, I was going to suggest a Tony Miller Plain Vanilla strop.

Just have patience and go slow to build muscle memory, you'll nick it when you try to go too fast or get distracted.

I am also a new straight razor shaver. I am using a leather covered board strop. I like this because it forces me to concentrate on my technique and you can't get sloppy with it. I also use a home-made newspaper strop.
