Stropping

Hello all,

In Joel's tutorial, It is said to do 15-20 passes on the linen side and 35 passes on the leather side. If I only have a leather side, how much passes do I need to do?

You need to keep the strop pulled taught and use no pressure on the razor. If the leather sags as the razor passes over it this will dull the edge aka rolling the edge. When changing direction roll the razor on the spine and not on the edge as this will also dull it, and probably cut into your strop.

Hope that helps

He means pull the leather tight enough that it stays flat while you're stropping. It shouldn't be loose enough that it's bouncing up and down if that makes sense.

Here is a pretty good video.
