Welcome to the Hall of Fame of Badger and Blade, Richard.

Salt cellar? Is this what you mean?

Here's a black glaze terracotta from the 5th Century B. C. Athens, Greece.

Welcome to the Badger and Blade! :badger:No need to fear the straight. I don't use one but they are just another sharp tool. :001_smile I've been hesitant because I already sharpen chisels, planes, handsaws, mortise chisels, more handsaws etc. I leave table saw blades and band-saw blades to a friend who does that for a living. I'm just kind of sharpened out and love having the DEs to open and go!

Yes that is a salt cellar some people call them salt dips. I don't have anything that old. I collect just the ones that strike my fancy.

Welcome Old beard.... about time you showed up....

When did you pick up the Fatboy? Or did you always have it and just got seduced by the cartridges adverts?
I stay away from straights and electrics as well.

I got it at antique shop here in town about a week ago for a big price of $5.00. It cleaned up real easy. Dawn soap, toothbrush and toothpaste scrub.
