Corned Beef Hash

Now that we've recently seen how to make corned beef through some great threads, let's take it a bit further into corned beef hash. Show us how you like to make it. Include a list of ingredients, cooking method, pans and pictures are a given.

Let's see whatcha got.

Well according to recipes, first you need to have "Leftover Corned Beef". I ain't never seen such a thing. It's a myth.

To make hash, you need as noted above, leftover CBH or pastrami. You need to plan accordingly.

When we did our renovation we went without a kitchen for almost a year.

Microwave and Coleman stove were our only cooking options.

I made a killer "hash" in the microwave.

Spud cubed, carrot slicked, onion sliced, salt and peper in a microwave dish. Cooked until the spuds are tender. Open a can of Argentinian corned beef, use 1/3 to 1/2 then back into the microwave to heat. Add grated cheese (what ever is handy) back into the microwave.

Not a bad (no kitchen) corned beef hash.

Tex-Mex corned beef hash taco with cilantro, fried egg, jalapeños and hot sauce. I used my new Matfer carbon steel pan.

Yummy too.

This will be fun. I want to attempt it one day- normally mine involves a can opener.
Amen to that. I love me some corned beef hash but I dont make it. I used to date a girl who was full-blooded Irish and ever St Patty's Day her mom would make homemade corned beef and cabbage and it was amazing. If only the daughter hadnt been crazy. LOL

I make my own corned beef using Alton Brown's recipe; it takes awhile...

http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/alton-brown/corned-beef-recipe.html

Then I use a lightly modified version of the Corned Beef Hash recipe from the Little Rooster Cafe...

http://www.food.com/recipe/little-roosters-cafe-corned-beef-hash-131835

I use Yukon Gold potatoes (4 medium, diced,) instead of Russets. De-glaze the pan with 1/8 to 1/4C Chardonnay and mix into hash. I don't bother with the Bechemel sauce; a little hot sauce and I'm good.

I just finished breakfast and it was a plate of corned beef hash with three eggs nested on top and a cup of black coffee.

The can opener worked just fine on the Homel can.

For you folks who make it by hand I have to give you credit. I just don't have the time or patience to make it.

I love me some Corned Beef Hash.
I used to make it a lot when I was single.
Nothing special in the way I did it buy you gotta have that fried egg on top.

Any time I'm at a restaurant that has it I order it. Around these parts that's few and far between.

Corned beef hash has really fallen out of favor at most restaurants. I guess not enough people enjoy it these days.

Yes that's very true. I find it more in the USA than I do in Canada and that's not very often either.

...and sadly, I don't think any of the 'chain' restaurants serve corned beef hash. :a36:

Off topic, but I just started reading CoMC today. They just took Dantes away. Only 30 or 40 pages in, and I cannot believe how despicable Danglars is. Right from the first few pages I already disliked him.
