They say necessity is the mother of invention. Yesterday I found myself halfway through with my shower, face exfoliated and washed, hair shampooed, and ready to get my shave on. I had a brand new Kai Captain Mild blade loaded in my Mongoose and a brand new tub of Tcheon Fung Sing BFF Special Edition Artisan Shaving Soap ready to get my shave on. I then discovered that I had FORGOTTEN to grab one of my many shave brushes from a stand on my vanity. Not wanting to stop, dry off, and go get one, I thought to myself…hmm…I just got me a new boar bristle bath/body brush from Simply Natural Brushes that I have loved hanging on my shower wall. I grabbed it, twisted the top off the tub of soap, and commenced to try to load up the back brush! Only the top inch or so of the brush head could reach down into the tub to load with soap, but I scrubbed it around for 30 seconds or so and got a good amount of soap loaded into the short stiff bristles, maybe ¾ of an inch long. I then proceeded to face lather the brush. TONS of backbone, not real soft, but the exfoliating properties were great! It seemed to be thirstier than I expected, and actually held onto the lather more than I thought the short bristles would. I was able to get three passes out of it though and with the aid of my trusty Mongoose got a nice BBS shave completed. No nicks or weepers, toweled off and a quick splash of Gingers Gardens Suede Aftershave and I was good to go! I don’t think this brush is going to make it into my rotation, but it was an interesting and successful experiment. Peace friends and have a blessed day!
