To the OP - Take a look at Dame Perfumery Desert Rose. Samples are available so you can avoid purchased-bottle-regret.

Very good read. I enjoy rose notes and I plan to add some rose shaving soap/cream to the rotation. I didn't mind TOBS, but I found it very linear and too strong.

I've never owned a pure rose perfume. I tested Black Aoud and I enjoyed the rose aspect of it. Have you tried Perfumers Workshop Tea Rose EdT? I consistently hear good things about it being a decent budget pure rose. I've been considering purchasing it to layer things over.

I think my holy grail of rose fragrances would be if someone took the leather note from vintage Jolie Madame (or some other suitable anamalic leather) and combined it with a nice strong dark rose. Essentially, a rose heavy flanker of Jolie Madame.
