Replacing Feather Kamisori handle?

Hi all,

Has anyone here ever replaced the handle on a kamisori style Feather? I've been thinking of getting an SS, but really dislike the look of the silicone handle. I'm wondering if anyone has a photo of what the Feather looks like without the silicone grip, so that I can gauge how difficult it would be to make a custom wood handle for one. I remembered seeing pictures of a disassembled feather once, but can't for the life of me find that thread anywhere.

Wow is right but it looks like a le maggards isn't doing custom refurbishing for now

Oh, I'm thinking of doing this myself. Maggards does phenomenal work, by the looks of things, but it's way over my budget. Plus, I like woodworking, and am currently restoring an antique straight. Just planning ahead, thinking of the next project

Anyone know what photo 14 is depicting? What is that step? Whats the white and black material?

I assume that the white material is the acrylic (or whatever)that was used as the inside stripe of the handle.
