I think it's a number 25 set. We don't seem to call it that though.

Yep, what they said, #25.
The Flat Bottom NEWs, just like many other Gillette models, came in different cases and each razor + case combo is a different set. Yours isn't a French Service Set, the case isn't the same. It's actually a better set IMHO, I love those bakelite cases.

I thought that handle was a mismatch.
Looks so different than the American and British ones more common to the time.
