I didn't even notice this in the Contributor's Corner. I've been hesitant with the idea of a fan-shaped knot because I've only used bulb shaped brushes (unless, the Semogue 830 is considered a fan-shape). Nevertheless, how can I resist?

This will be my second brush from Rudy, but my first Shavemac Finest knot. I've been reading for years about how Shavemac's finest is one of the best bang for your buck knots around! Now, I'll find out!!

I have the 2014 B&B brush. It's a Rudy with Shavemac finest (bulb). It's incredible, my first really nice brush. I'm very excited for this group buy!

I have a couple of questions if you fine fellows don't mind.

1. Are fan knots the preference for face or bowl lathers or does it matter?

2. How do we know if we are eligible I read the thing about the contributors and I'm not sure if the rest of us have to wait or not.

I believe the loft is approximately 48-50mm

1. Some say it matters. I don't think it does.
2. Open to everyone. Contributors got first shot at it, but now all can enter

I bowl and face lather - although now face lather more often - and use both bulb and fan knots.

And this group buy is for everyone.

Here are my answers to your questions:

1. I personally prefer a fan shaped knot.

If you don't yet have a preference then you haven't yet had enough shaves under your belt, and frankly you should at least just try a few different shapes just to see what you prefer. I personally wouldn't let my lack of knowledge or preference make me miss out on a group buy from Rudy Vey, but that's just me...

2. Yes, all are now welcome. The group buy was initially open only to contributors, but then later opened to all members.

Yes, it was in the contributor's forum, guess it didn't copy over, here it is:

"I will probably set the two-band silvertip at about double the knot size, so if the knot is at exit from the handle 24 mm, the loft would be 47-49 mm – I always try to be within +/- 1 mm on loft.
The Finest will be set a tad higher, say 50 mm (49-51 as the range)."
