How Many Shaves to the bottom of a Shave Stick?

"Houston, we have shave sticks!"

They arrived in the mail last night! For the life of me, I can't decide which one I like better! And my wife says she doesn't like EITHER!!! WHAAAAAAAA!!!!!

With that said, I've decided to put it to a vote. Place your vote for for the next stick by just typing which you'd rather pass around. I'm pretty sure I know which one will win. Without further ado, I present you with...
THE PICTURES!!!!!

Gentlemen, it is my pleasure to introduce to you

Rosco and Lenny!!
$CAM00031.jpg$CAM00032.jpg

Meet Rosco. He's a very warm, friendly, and inviting shave stick. He smells kind of like Christmas, but Christmas in the south where it might be warm enough for a peppermint kick to cool off your day. He's not a very talkative guy, he prefers to listen to your stories, but when he offers a comment, you stop and listen, and you're better off for it.

Lenny, on the other hand, is a "beach-bum". I mean that as a complement. He's not one to loaf around, he's a hard worker, but you know he'd rather be at the beach sipping a Coke Zero with Lime, and maybe a splash of something "additive." He's a cool cat on a hot day, with a personality that will refresh even the stickiest of situations.

So guys, who do you want to pay you a visit? The listener or the beach bum?

STATS:

Both sticks are pretty much identical in size and weight - 6.2 centimeters high, 3.5 centimeters in diameter, Rosco weighs 69.5 grams (2.45 oz), and Lenny weighs 68.5 grams (2.42 oz).

Gather your friends, and invite them all to the pass around?

Also, it took GREAT restraint for me to not shave this morning. I wanted to present the picture of each stick unadulterated. I WILL shave tomorrow with one of these sticks. I will keep track though, so the results of the pass-around will not be negatively affected.

Come on Down LENNY!!!! Im a beach bum myself and frankly that is too enticing for me. (plus roscoe reminds me of a pig I used to know and I don't want to rub him on my face).

On second thought maybe both:lol:

Was that pig a boar? Cause that could end up ok.

My vote goes to Lenny. Too bad he is not from the UK: then he could be Lenny the Limey.

EDIT: we might need a mascot.

Well, I took Lenny for a birthday shave today! I gotta say, you guys are voting well. Although I really enjoyed it, I don't think it would be a daily scent for me. Don't get me wrong, it was VERY enjoyable. One thing I've read about Mike's soaps, is that they take some work to get going. Lenny, true to his biography, DEFINITELY needed some motivation this morning. I wouldn't say this is a particularly thirsty soap, but a good hot soak before loading on the face is definitely advisable. I don't think I loaded enough, and found myself having to load just a bit more for a third pass. Please don't misunderstand. The soap performed VERY WELL! It just doesn't explode with lather as effortlessly as Arko, Valobra, or Palmolive, which is where my experience with shave sticks ends.

I'll try to drum up a bit more response and participation this week, and will keep shaving with Lenny. Depending on how many participants we get, we'll either do 5 or 10 shaves each. I don't have the size and weight stats of the other soaps, so I don't have much to compare to, but this is a very HARD and LARGE soap. Keep that in mind when we open up the guessing (Monday morning!)

First things first - Jessy - great work here. Keeping us going and selecting two great sticks. Made in the center of the universe no less, Brooklyn! (Of course home of Gem and Ever Ready Razors).

I am drawn to the Peppermint Rosemary fragrance of Roscoe. Put my vote there please.

Good to see the old timers back and I'm happy to have crawled out from under my rock for a few seconds to join up.

Finally, LUC!!! - welcome to the thread. Keep posting buddy. So happy you are around.

P.S. How did Ollie's final tally shake out? My ears were burning last week. Not sure if I crossed the finish line or got swept by.

It's been a while mate, glad that we are crossing paths again! I will work on getting more information into this thread and see how we go.

Let's go ahead with our guesses! I need to go back and tally the few votes we got, but I'm thinking Lenny won. I had my second shave with him last evening, and, having finally decoded the Mike's Lathering technique, I can say you guys are gonna LOVE THIS SOAP!

Let's commence with the first round of guesses. Each person will receive one guess just for having visited and commented on the thread. Remember, you're guessing how many TOTAL SHAVES this shave stick will provide under normal use. We are only counting until the stick can no longer provide enough soap for a traditional shave without altering it in anyway (ie, removing it from the base of the stick). After my 5th shave, I'll post the new measurements and weight. First round guessing is open until the stick reaches its 15th shave.

Please subscribe to this thread so you can keep up with the conversation and be a more active participant. Also, invite your friends. Please don't cross-post in the non shaving subforums, but invite anyone. Remember that noobs under 2 months and under 50 posts are also allowed to participate in the guessing, and once they reach the threshold, will be given a guess. After 1st round guessing is over, then the fun can REALLY begin!

You're funny mate! Mmm, I don't think I will jump in the pass around no, but will be following it for sure. I got a few sticks to finish at my end. I will put a vote of 80 for Lenny!
