Thank you for participating, Nathan. I look forward to the next participant's receiving Ollie and posting after shaving with him.

He's here in Dallas. I have to lay off shaving for a day or so, due to trying out a new-to-me Gem Featherweight that turned out to be damaged. I'll post once I've had some time with Ollie.

Mr. Scheerstick and I had a fine shave late this morning. He was a bit drying on my face, but that may be due to the mix with our hard water.

I'm afraid it was a bit boring this weekend, although he did enjoy seeing Ernie Els pick up his second claret jug at The Open Championship.

Four down, one to go. Who is next?

Ollie is to be commended on the job he is doing here in the hard water of Dallas. Alas, he has needed a slight re-application after two passes on a couple occasions, but not so much as for a full application at the beginning of the shave. He is a firmer shave stick than the others were, and smaller diameter as well, so it may be I'm not using enough soap on the initial application.

Texascattlerancher is next. He is also from Dallas so you may meet up or mail, it is your choice.

Thank you for participating, Bob. Also, it is quite common to not apply enough of Palmolive stick unless the tip is soaked for ten minutes or so before application.

Anyone else wanting to participate please PM me or post in this thread. Please limit to the US, Canada or Mexico please.

Any progress on the shave stick? I for one am interested in how Mr. Scheerstick is working out with our cattle rancher friend.

I think a PM to texascattlerancher is due, then. Of course if he is on vacation he may not have received his mail as of yet but the PM is still appropriate. I will PM him now.

    Edit: PM sent. Awaiting reply.

Yes, I have been on vacation. I have been enjoying the mountains of New Mexico. I had hoped to take Ollie Sheerstick with me, but, alas, he did not arrive in time to make the trip. Regarding the mountains, a bear decided a visit inside the hotel where I was staying would be nice. On youtube, search for "Angel Fire Resort Bear", and you will be able to see a short clip or two captured by surveillance video of the bear wandering around inside the hotel.

When I got back home, I found Mr. Sheerstick camping out behind the azalea's next to the front door of my house. He had made friends with the two neighborhood cats who like to hide behind the hedge and watch (stalk) the birds and squirrels that frequent my front yard. During the week that I was gone, and after watching several unsuccesful stalks, Sheerstick decided to prepare a dish he is fond of to share with his feline friends. Fish and chips was the meal, and Sheerstick said the cats very much enjoyed the fish but not so much the chips. He also related that it had been "bloody hot" behind the hedge, over 100 degrees most days, and that he doesn't understand how anyone ever decided to settle in Texas in the first place. He had been relegated to wearing his "short trousers, a safari shirt and a pith helmet" in order to bear the heat. There was certainly no dressing for dinner during his campout behind the hedge.

Opening the package that arrived I was surprised to find a number of companions for Sheerstick. Bobtrumpet graciously included a packet of Feathers and a packet of Albertson's blades made in England. Even though still in their container, the Feathers nicked me just from the memory of my first shave with this brand of blade a couple of years ago. Bobtrumpet also included a very small Gillette traveling razor. I don't know what the model is, but the handle is thin and cannot be any longer than 2 inches. If one had to pack light in a very small space, this would be the perfect traveling razor. Various decants were also included. Bobtrumpet, thank you for sending the extra items along.

I had my first shave with Ollie on Sunday when I had three days of beard. If "clean" was a scent, "clean" is what Ollie smelled like to me. My first impression was of a very mild Zest soap smell. I was intrigued by the Albertson's blades because, apparently, I can buy them locally. However, the container proved to be adult proof, at least without having any reading glasses at hand to closely examine the container. So, I opted to use one of the new Feathers for my first shave with Ollie. I applied the shave soap as usual and commenced a three pass shave. This Palmolive stick performed well. The lather was a little thin on my third pass. Nevertheless, the shave was good; bbs was achieved with no nicks with a Feather blade. I followed up with Osage Rub, which is what I use almost exclusively in the hot Texas summers.

I have used the stick three times now. I just did two passes rather than apply more product for shaves two and three. My wife is not fond of the scent. As a result, Ollie will not find a place in my rotation. Nevertheless, I found Ollie very serviceable. Palmolive provides a slick shave even though the lather is not the thickest.

I will be finished with Sheerstick this Friday. Is Darjeeling next up? Sheerstick is tired of drinking my campfire coffee, and I am sure that Darjeeling will have various teas to serve that Ollie will find more appealing.

Hope it was an excellent vacation, bears notwithstanding. Good to hear from both you and Ollie, too.

It was not I who included the other items; they were in the box when I received it. I just passed them along.

Please express my apologies to Mr. Sheerstick for his sitting out in the Texas heat. I was not aware you would be out of town. Mea culpa.

Is Mr. Scheerstick actually a Mrs. and those were her babies? I guess she did bring something back from San Francisco during her pre-thread vacation!

Shave #4 was this morning and was the best of the bunch. I applied more product at the beginning and had enough lather for a comfortable 3rd pass. Like any soap, a little experimentation with the soap/water/size of brush combination goes a long way to getting a good lather.

Shave #5 was last Friday. Who is next? Also, Ollie didn't have a single drink his entire stay.

I think Darjeeling is supposed to be up next. I sent him a private message that didn't go through. Apparently, Darjeeling has been hording messages like a pack rat, and he has exceeded his quota. I kept getting a message that he has to clear up space before any new messages can be sent to him.

Pack rat here. Message box cleaned up. A B&B cyborg had to write to my private email that Tex was pursuing me. Holy Tex Signal!! I am passing on my pass. I have my own Ollie and he is a great latherer but his fragrance is too, too. I am still here, alive, and coincidentally, shaved with QED Wild Orange today, which Tex originally turned me on to. Now that's a fragrance my friends. Go, stay healthy, have fun. Yours, Darjeeling.

Ollie, the small travel razor, the decants and the Feathers are being placed in the mail to Gogo this afternoon. I kept the Albertson's blades. I dropped them in the sink water and not being individually wrapped, they all got soapy and wet. For sanitary purposes they are staying with me. ;)

USPS tracking information indicates that Ollie was safely delivered to Gogo on the 24th. Haven't heard from either of them. There was talk of visiting Nashville as Ollie had developed a fondness for American country music. Who knows, Gogo and Ollie may be hanging out with Willie (Waylon R.I.P.)and the boys.
