    Default Howdy! newbie in Austin

Yet another newbie seeking guidance and answers. I posted in the Interactive Guide to Straight Razor Shaving, as I now have a straight and want to learn. Any suggestions on honemeisters and supplys/suppliers in the Austin area will be greatly appreciated!

Wish I could help. But, there are a number of Austin members of B&B who might chime in.

    Default New Austin Wetshaver

I too am a wetshaver newbie (although I chose an HD as my first razor) living in Austin.

Thank you, Gafer, for posting about the wetshaving store on Congress - I can't believe I've never heard of that place before!

No problem. The other sources are:
"Hero's and Legacies" at the Arboretum. They have Truefitt and Hill as well as Art of Shaving supplies. They have Cigars too if you're into that. If you find the smell of cigars objectionable then you better sya out of that place!

Most of the hippie food stores (Sun Harvest, Central Market, Whole Foods) carry Tom's of Maine and Kiss My Face shaving creams.

Some of the Walgreens carry Van der Hagen soaps and an assortment of the Pinaud Clubman aftershaves (Lilac, Bay Rum, & Classic).

    Next stop, Heroes and Legacies!
I enjoy a good cigar now and then, so I'm sure I'll love the store - what could be a manlier combination than wetshaving and cigars?

I've seen some of the shaving creams at Whole Foods, but I'll probably stop by the two stores you posted and ask for their recommendations. I'm sure they'll have a more informed opinion than a grocery store =)

Glad I could help. Shame we don't have more choices in the "capitol city" but what do you expect?
