    Default Restoring an old strop

I found an old strop and would like to get it functional again. It's dirty, and I would like to clean it. However, if I clean it like I would any leather, will that hurt it's stropping ability?

There are no noticeable gauges or nicks.

Any advice or how to in strop restoration would be greatly appreciated.

    thanks

Don't know how dirty yours is. However I've cleaned two with a damp, maybe slightly more than damp, rag. The linen side I worked over with soap submerged in warm or hot water if you will.
Seemed to work just fine, no damage and they are clean enough for me.

    Thanks for the reply.

I think i'll use a traditional leather cleaner (hoping none of them have water in them). We'll see.
