  1. Default Requesting gift ideas... please

    Hey everyone!

I'm new to this forum... actually, this is my inaugural post... and I promise I will have shaving questions at some point as I'm also new to the wonderful world of wet shaving but right now I have a much more pressing matter to attend to. I'm getting married soon and would love to get my future husband a real nice shaving-related gift. He has all the basic equipment he needs but I want to get him something that he will keep and use for a very long time, and something that he will look at and remember our wedding. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on where I might begin searching or what I might look into getting for him.

Thanks in advance for any help and suggestions!

PS ~ If I'm posting in the wrong place, I apologize.

First off, welcome to the site. Second, congratulations.

Third, if you're looking for something shave-related that will last a long time I'd recommend a nice brush. I uh, can't think of any off the top of my head, but I know you'll be able to get at least six different recommendations from people here. If I can remember anything I'll post it in here too.

Welcome. How about a brush from Shavemac. You can get it engraved also. Or a set like this

Welcome to B&B and congrats on your upcoming big day!

I agree with Chip, a nice brush would be a wonderful long time reminder and you could even have it monogramed and have the date of your special day.

I forgot to make one more suggestion: unless he already shaves with a straight, don't get him one of those. You probably don't want him thinking of you every time he cuts himself.

In addition to the brush you may want to get him some quality shaving soap or shaving cream to go with it and perhaps a shave mug or bowl to mix it in.
Art of Shaving makes very good creams and after shave blams they are online or in some malls but don't buy any brushes or razors there they overprice them. leesrazors.com has a nice assortment of both soaps and creams among other items, tell him you belong to B&B and I believe he gives a discount.

hahaha! You're right... I don't want that. Thankfully, he doesn't shave with a straight razor... yet... give him time.

I like this idea a lot! He recently bought himself a nice brush but I think it's probably mid-quality still. Where can I find a high quality, engravable brush?

Thanks guys! You've all been really helpful and I think I've found what I'm looking for! Any further suggestions would still be appreciated just because I want to know more about wet shaving and store ideas for future birthday and anniversary presents.

Wow. You're a rare bird indeed. And if by some chance the wedding thing doesn't work out, I'll marry you.

My wife got me a Moss Scuttle for Christmas one year - it's a nice gift because you can pretty much use it regardless of what the rest of your shaving setup is (safety vs. straight, soap vs. cream). I guess it's only helpful if he has a brush - but if you have a brush, a scuttle takes it to a new level.

Welcome and Congrats! I know for me a Moss Scuttle or a Shavemac engraved would be an awesome gift. I don't think you can go wrong either way.

Yeah, I could see a Moss Scuttle being a nice treat. And since they are made by one particular artisan, I guess it never hurts to ask her if she'd be willing to personalise it (for a fee, of course ... ) for your hubby-to-be.
Be there or be square. Only I can do both!
I've got a cat named Beefeater and a dog named Beefeater, and two goldfish called Beefeater and Beefeater. There's Beefeater my hamster and Beefeater my horse, and my piglet, known as Beefeater of course.

Congrats! Welcome to B&B! I agree with what everyone else has stated above in regards to a nice brush from shavemac or a nice scuttle. Oh and I think you may be unofficially the 9th female member of B&B I know of.

...I mean, you know, it's not like I'd want to marry you right AWAY or anything but if for some reason the wedding thing just doesn't work out, well ... call me.

Where might I find a Moss Scuttle? I know that right now he is using an extra large mug that I got him Ollie's, which is basically like a large hodgepodge outlet store, for $2 so I'm pretty confident that he would LOVE to have a nice scuttle to use. I checked out the shavemac site and they have nice options in both but I'm still shopping around... I learn more this way! = )

I know! I don't understand it though... I get a [I]much[I] better shave with my Lady Gillette than I ever did with my Venus razors and I don't have to shave as often... you know, as long as I change the blades frequently enough. I definitely think more women should get into wet shaving.
