  1. Talking stepping back to go forward

    New DE razor user.

Just wanted to say thank you for the information that has been posted here. I'm a long time Norelco user. It recently died and I purchased a braun to replace it and hated it. I started using a Sensor excel with C&E Sienna because I couldn't justify spending another $100plus on an electric so soon after buying the braun. I liked the shave well enough but it seemed to pull my whiskers while shaving, tried a machIII and it pulled even more. Saw the new fusion and was amazed that I could by a cheap electric for the price of 2 packs of blades. I picked up a Merkur classic and a tub of Taylor's sandalwood and so far so good. I'm getting the hang of it and I like the fact that I'm not spending $15 to $25 on blades and I get to try out different shaving creams with the savings.

You're traveling through another dimension, a dimension not only of sight and sound but of mind. A journey into a wondrous land whose boundaries are that of imagination. That's the signpost up ahead - your next stop, the Badger and Blade Zone!

Some of the main reasons why people are switching is always the amount of money they can save with the DE blades compared to Mach 3 cartridges etc, also the lack of irritation, razor burn etc.

Already said in this thread but once you are bitten by the wet shaving ritual, you will be spending more money on creams, soaps, razors etc than you could have possibly thought!

The good thing is that without you knowing you will change a morning burden to a real ritual for which you will easily get 15 to 20 minutes earlier out of bed to experience the true feeling of a good wet shave with the wide amount of possible cream, soap, AS scents etc.

Anyway, don't let all this scare you! As Jim said: you're on your first step towards a completely different experience where the boundaries are yet to be discovered even by some of the old "gurus" of this board.

I tried a Gillette adjustable today. I think I like it better than the Merkur. I just wish they still made them. I like the fact that I can dial it down to where it is not as aggressive as the merkur.

I may write a letter to gillette raving about the "New" gillette razor I tried today and how I really would like them to know it was the reason I gave up my electric and see what type of response I get.

I've done the above and found that the shaving ritual *does* help me have a better day in comparison to my old cartridge days.

Yup, welcome ot B&B, and good first steps in getting to a new shaving reality.

I mean, you have to shave anyway, you might as well enjoy it.

There's a ton of info here, keep searching around, this place is a fantastic resource.

    Peace,

    Pierre
