@Intrigued

You did it right. Apply smoke until your satisfied with the bark and look. Transfer to oven for finish. I know you've been watching us, glad you made the attempt. I know it was delicious because you cooked it.

Thanks! It did taste PDG for a first attempt. And I'm really glad to know that there isn't going to be a lynching. :hang:

I bought another pork butt to put in the freezer. They're on sale this week for $1.39 a pound. :001_smile

You're hooked. Wait till you try a brisket or ribs.

....before long you'll have a big A smoker in the backyard. Ha, ha....

Nah... My husband doesn't really like most of it... especially if it's messy to eat. Like ribs or bbq chicken. (sissy) :001_rolle

But he does like good pulled pork and it goes sooo... good with the fresh corn on the cob we're getting right now. :w00t:

I hear ya. My wife and I just celebrated our 31st anniversary today. When we first met she did not eat anything hot, spicy or from the sea. It took a few years, but now shes a hot sauce, shrimp, clam eating machine. Messy things to eat end up all over your face and hands. Before long you've got a big smile on your face that can't be removed even with a bad day at work.

My dads' family were from Oklahoma. He was born in Hugo.

Oh yes, now I remember you mentioning something about that. Hugo is just a hop, skip, and a jump across the river from here. SWMBO manages the hotel at the casino in Grant. I grew up in the Tulsa area.

If your hubby doesn't like the messy Q...damn Yankee. :biggrin1:

My wife and I just celebrated our 31st anniversary today.

Congrats Aaron!!!! What did you do for her for your anniversary? Hope it was something nice.

Aaron...Aaron...Aaron?

What happened to Aaron?

I hope he did something nice for his wife and is just offline now.

Aaron?

Pero, my youngest son is older than that, but that wife is long gone now.

Just hit 25 years last year with this one.

Got my smoker gasket seal tacked back up today. A few weeks ago I put the charcoal tray in it to use it for grilling ka bobs, lit the charcoal, and by the time I walked back inside and looked out the window it had a grease fire going kinda like Jeremy's, but mine was bigger. :biggrin1:

This is Jeremy's pic.; I didn't take time to take a pic. as I went back outside rather quickly and closed the lid to put it out.

You know how the red RTV gasket sealant is rated to 650 degrees? It melted the sealant on one entire end, about half of the front, and about a foot on the rear. :w00t:

The rope gasket itself is okay, and I got the melted stuff on the sides of the smoker filed off and put some more sealant on it. I'll leave it clamped until tomorrow.

I had some aluminum flashing extending the chimney down to grate level and it crispy crittered that also...dang that stuff burnt fast.

I had also cleaned out the chest I keep my charcoal and wood chunks in as it had dirt daubers getting in it, even after I taped up all the holes. I lifted the lid to put stuff back in it and found this little critter. I had the macro on for the camera so he looks bigger than he really is...about an inch-and-a-half long..tiny little thing. :001_smile

Great looking stuff guys!!

I just did my first cook on my new Akorn Kamado grill....this is my first try with this style grill and I am hooked for sure! Very easy temp control and a lot of room with the two level grill

Here's a few pics...I did ribs, sausage, and corn....also some baked beans in the kitchen.

yeah and as if that wasn't enough....over 5 hours it barely used any lump at all! Probably used 1/4 of the pile I started with....impressed with the first run...we'll see how I do with other cooks!
