    Default Fathers Day gifts

I have seen many threads here about people giving razors to their dads. I think it's a cool idea, so I would like to know if you were going to gift your dad a razor, which Gillette adjustable would you choose? Since I got a Merkur Barberpole, my adjustables(Fat Boy, Slim, and Super-duper Slim) have been turned into benchwarmers, so I thought I could trade them to his team to get another chance at the major league.

And, I don't know if anyone could help me out with another "need" I have. I am looking for the paper wrappers that the blades come in. Not the wax paper, but the paper outside that that some, like the Gillete 7ams, Dorco's, Treet's, etc..., have. I'll send an SASE so it won't cost anyone a thing. Thank you

I think there are four items in this world that combined can solve any problem. They are: A pair of pliers, Duct Tape, paperclip/wire, and Barbicide.

If I had the chance to give my dad a razor for father's day, I'd find the one he used to use and get him one of those. My dad used a 40's style SS which I have today.
If I was going to interduce/gift an adjustable, I think it would be a Fatboy as I enjoy mine.

Curious, What do you want with paper wrapers?

I'm giving Dad a cased Ranger Tech this year, he was born about the time they hit the market in December '41.

Don't worry he's not online, that I know of.

I saw someone who had a box with cigar bands glued on top, then covered with some kind of sealer. I thought this was awesome, and as I have been going around the flea markets, I have picked up a few boxes that people are trying to get rid of cheap because they are broken and/or cracked. I want to do the same thing with blade wrappers, but maybe line the the top and inside cover to cover cracks/repairs. I thought these would make nice "homes" for any razors I get that don't have their original cases/boxes. I found one in particular that has a small brass plate on the top, but there used to be something attached on top of that, so there is a difference in the stain. Here is a picture:

I lined the inside of the box to cover a crack in the bottom that I glued, and I would like to have my initials engraved on the brass plaque. So I want to surround it with wrappers to cover the discoloration. Because I can only shave so often each day, and I don't have a large selection of blades, I thought I could call on the members to perhaps save some up for me, and I would send a SASE. It saves them being thrown out, and I'll have a large variety of wrappers to choose from. Once I finish restoring the Gillette Display case I got off eBay(the USPS had fun with it and cracked a corner of the plastic off and chipped the top glass), I'll have a home for the ones with cases.

As another request, if anyone knows what I could use to cover the wrappers once I have them glued on to protect and seal them, I'd love to know.
