Default What's up with the rust?

Hello everybody! I have been shaving with a straight razor for one week now and I love it. I have been getting better every time. The one problem I want to address right now (believe me there were others too) is that the first time I shaved my brand new TI razor began to develop rust spots before my eyes, on the face of the blade where the writing is and on the top of the spine! Yes, I took an exceptionally long time for my first shave, but I did not know that rust could develop so fast. Some of it rubbed off when I dried the blade but some remains. Is this unheard of? I don't have a very expensive model (paid $100) but I would like to keep the blade in good condition. What can I do?

    • Dry thoroughly and immediately after use.
    • Coat blade-and-tang with Tuf-Glide, camilia oil, or similar substance.
    • Store in a dry and well-ventilated place.

Disclaimer: Metal surfaces polished to other than a "mirror finish" give rust a "toe-hold"!
