my first brush, is it synthetic or badger hair?

is it a good starter brush? i was looking for a crabtree bbb but they didn't have any in stock then someone gave me this. does anyone have any experience with the brand?

If you click around the site a bit...It looks like all the brushes are Badger.

follow up q. is it a best or a pure? definitely not a silvertip since it is quite scratchy.

Since this brush is available in three different grades, I can't tell which you have by looking at the website. However, if it is a single darkish colour, like the photos, it is probably a pure badger brush.
