The One Best Place in Your Town

Well, not exactly my town, but the best coffee ever is obtained at Caffe Mexico, Naples, Italy.

Here in Santa Monica, hmm, Unurban, I guess.

Thanks Mick Nice to find that the award winning Micro Roaster is Propeller Coffee Co from Hogtown. I.e., Toronto Ontario Canada. I live in a suburb and now know where my next order of roasted coffee is coming from.

What's the best place in your town or city to get a cup of coffee? I'd love to have a list in case I end up traveling around.
Here in the New Orleans area, I'm going with Hey Cafe on Magazine St.

In New Orleans, like the OP, but my preference is Spitfire on St. Peter St in the Quarter. Although, District Donuts and Sliders on Magazine has a coldbrew on tap that blows my mind every time!

Haven't been to Spitfire. When I'm in the Quarter I go to Sucre. Love the Modbar setup they have. Trying to justify spending $3K on a home coffee setup like that one....

I haven't had an opportunity to discover a local coffee place yet, so for the time being Starbucks does the trick when I'm out and about. At home it's usually Van Houtte Amazonia or Kenya beans in an Ikea french press, but I'm seriously contemplating giving 49th Parallel as well as Bows and Arrows as I've heard some pretty good things about both.

Pinecone Coffee here in Hamilton carries 49th Parallel coffee as well, have brought a few bags home.

Small's, very good but only takeout.

Relay Coffee, local roaster with a shop 5min walk away across the street from the library, ideal.

I haven't been to the new location in the Quarter yet. When I go, it's usually to the Metairie location (in front of Lakeside Mall). They were trained by New Orleans coffee exchange (I'm unsure if the baristas at the other two locations were as well), and their Slayer is AWESOME!

Sarutahiko opened a new shop not far from where I live and it's great. Next door to a Starbucks too, which is just mean.

I still prefer Nozy but they are a close second. I'd put Sarutahiko on par with Four Barrel, Stumptown or Blue Bottle.

Better try Leva also. http://www.cafeleva.com/

Jeez, I used to drive by there all the time with work... Now I drive by every now and then, but since I deliver the UofA (and Whyte Ave) areas first due to the insanity traffic becomes after 10:30 I was always in a rush whenever I went by there. I just might have to pop in next payday.... Assuming this frigid wind doesn't stick around!!

You know, I'm spoiled. Metro Detroit has so many fine indy cafes! I love going down to Corktown and hitting Astro, or riding up Grand River and going to Urban Bean Co, or hitting Royal Oak's fine Bean and Leaf (I've run into Justin Verlander there several times). Ferndale offers The Redhook, which brews Stumptown. Anthology is the place to get a great pour over.

There's also the chain places. I work at the one with the Green Siren. I think we sell high quality beans. Heck, I think some of the baristas at my store can compete with any barista at any indy store. It all comes down to the knowledge of the barista. Any place can be good.

Where I live, you have a choice between a gas station/convenience store, two casinos, or a bar. Not exactly a haven for gourmets.
