Default Disconnect disposable prices vs cartridges

I was in the local "Big Lots" store and as I do in most stores, I gravitate over to the shaving isle. They were selling generic double blade Trac II type cartridges made by ASR for $4.49 for a 10 pack. OK, so that's 45 cents per cartridge. Next to them there are bags of ASR double blade Trac II type disposable razors. A bag of 20 of these disposable razors cost $1.80! That's 9 cents a piece for the blade and the razor! I would think the disposables would be more expensive than the cartridges but it isn't so. Any thoughts on why this is?

    Default

mach3 and fusion sales have to compensate for their high marketing budgets
for disposable razors there's no advertising
no advertising = lower price :D

    Default not just advertising costs...

I've noticed the same weirdness with the mach 3 disposables or sensor excel plus ... cheaper to get them in a 10 pack with the handle than to get just the cartridges alone.
    so wasteful...
