What's new

one cuts new camping cooking pot set

I found my old camping cook gear.
Its the old aluminum trangia set. The stove is gone, the pot holder handle missing.
Its a bit beat up and burnt.
I was thinking that I might get a new set.

I will use it for backpacking, to almost any place.
I will use it on what ever stove I have at hand or a camp fire. So all cool silicon sided sets are out.

Any recommendations ?

I really like the MSR Quick 2 System Cookset. Fairly compact and very convenient with two different pot sizes with an interchangeable handle, two mugs and two plates.

I have to second the MSR quick 2 system. I have the alpinist version that only has one pot. I've used it on a ton of backpacking trips. I really like that the lid has a built in strainer.

I have herd allot of good things about the Jetboil.
Is it good for cooking noodles or potatoes or is it just for heating mountain house pre prepared meals ?

Why not just replace the Trangia? I use one of those sets or a swedish army surplus mess kit, which is pretty much a military version of the same thing. No moving parts, reliable, you can get the fuel almost anywhere...

I'm looking around, seeing what other people say, might learn something.
I have a Trangia but I lost bits and peaces of it.
Might get more than one set so that If I go alone I just take the Jetboil but if I need to do real cooking I have pots and stuff.
I'm in no hurry its winter.
