Stub Tail restore

I picked up this stub tail as part of a two razor ot on the auction site.

The scales were splintering at the pins. I took it apart and rescaled with new horn. I was able to save/use the wedge and a pair of the floral collars. I did my best to duplicate a second pair of collars for the pivot.

Scales need some buffing, but pretty happy with results. Can't wait to hone this one. Tips on honing a wedge appreciated. Also, any guess on age? I'm thinking early 19th century.

Nothing special to hone a wedge. Just tape evenly. You'll want to roll your stroke to accommodate the smile. You've done a nice job. I'm going to guess late 1830s to early 1860s based on the style. Very nice. Well done.
