Strop material and old sheffield wedges

Ok so I have my grandfathers old horse hide strop. I reconditioned it and use on all my razors.
I do however want to have another just so I don't over time wear his out.

My question is about material. Is one material better or worse for using on the old sheffield wedges?
Most of the razors I perfer to use are old wedges. I do have a few old hollow and quarter hollow, but use the wedges the most.

I am thinking either horse hide or bison/buffalo, but was interested in others thoughts and opions on the subject.

I don't think anyone will ever prove one leather is 'best'.
I prefer horsehide - but still like bridle, buffalo, etc.
I will say this - a Roo strop feels weird under an 8/8 FBU wedge... too thin or something.
Works fine though.
I do like a thick heavy strop for a big heavy blade - but is it better? Whatever, it's what I like to use.. lol.

That is what I figured. I had read that they will all get you to the same place is it just a matter of how many strokes and the feel. I am leaning toward the buffalo since I already have a nice horsehide with royal linen. Plus they seem to come bigger and heavier so would feel better under the larger blades.

Thanks,
Gamma
