How will this be deployed in desert environments such as Iraq, Syria, Afghanistan, etc?

They can hit the middle east with a missle from the Mediterranean or Red Sea.
They hang out on the coast and deploy cruise missiles. Remember all the news reels of cruise missiles hitting Iraq in the beginning of the Desert Fox campaign? Those were almost 100% deployed by SSGN's. They can also transport NAVY Seal teams. Not really going to be a use in Afghanistan though.
