If you understand time signatures in music pay attention to his feet. He does this thing where one foot does one thing and the other kinda does something elese and he sorta plays in between then on and off...
He's my favorite Delta Blues guy.

I have no idea how he does that foot thing. But I guess that's why he was John Lee Hooker.

On another note, this thread needs far more Bluegrass, and far more Gospel.

Great question.

I have always held that jazz, blues, mountain, and bluegrass music are unique American art forms. It could be argued the roots of these genres have origins elsewhere.
 
How about a more literal interpretation. :) "My Old School" is an American classic and if you watch the video you will see time going backwards. ;-)
