When I was in college in the '80's, I used to enjoy watching the stand-up routines of Steven Wright, Jerry Seinfeld, Drew Carey, and Joel Hodgson.

I'm a huge fan of Mitch Hedberg. He passed away some time ago but most of his stuff can be found on YouTube or iTunes, and elsewhere. A very dry type of comedy but his delivery always got me. A few of my favorites from him are:

"An escalator can never break: it can only become stairs. You should never see an Escalator Temporarily Out Of Order sign, just Escalator Temporarily Stairs. Sorry for the convenience."

"I don't have a girlfriend. But I do know a woman who'd be mad at me for saying that."

"I was at this casino minding my own business, and this guy came up to me and said, 'You're gonna have to move, you're blocking a fire exit.' As though if there was a fire, I wasn't gonna run. If you're flammable and have legs, you are never blocking a fire exit."

"Thanks to Benjamin Franklin, he discovered electricity. If he hadn't, we'd all be watching TV by candlelight."

Norm Crosby, an oldie but a goodie.

Another vote for Mitch Hedberg. His delivery and observational wit are untouchable. I miss him.

A contemporary comedian who cracks me up is Theo Von. He's a pure stream-of-consciousness nutjob.
