Frameback honing?

Hones like anything else, the only thing I would do is use a layer of tape, often the spines on them are softer than the blade metal and the spine wears out faster than the blade.
 
+1 on what Doc said. As a result, some frequently (or poorly) honed older framebacks have uneven wear which you may have to adjust for.

Alfredo and David, are you talking about the older framebacks with brass or copper spines or newer ones with what at least looks like steel spines like the Japanese razors?

This is my only frameback. Looking at it on end you can see the blade is a true wedge. The spine's been soldered and it is soft, which requires a bit of a rocking x-stroke. No other trick to honing it. I don't tape it since it's taken about 125+ years to get where it is.
