Thread: New Merkur 38C

    Default New Merkur 38C

How does shaving with the Merkur 38C compare to the Merkur Futur. I currently use the Futur (it's my only razor and I am getting very good results with it) and was wanting to buy the 38C. Will the 38C deliver just as good results? Or will I just be wasting my money buying it?

    Just looking for some opinions

    Thanks a lot

I switched from using my Futur to the 38c because I found I was getting better shaves with it, I sold the Futur. So I'd say your probably not wasting your money unless youre already getting great shaves, in which case I'd stick with your Futur or you might find yourself getting a case of RAD, I'm a long term sufferer

They both give good shaves. I find the Futur gives me a BBS shave with fewer passes than the 38C. But the 38C is still a wonderful razor.

I found the futur too big for me. The 38c is great.Right now I am a bit of a 39c type of guy though.

i found that the 38c is a great shaver, i still like my vision better, just that both do a excelent job, the problem is i have to use different blades on them, the vision synergizes best with Crystals, while the 38c just works best with red personnas,

I have used my 38C with a Derby the last two mornings. Great smooth shaves.

I use the 38c and the Futur....and I love them both.

The 38c is my mainstay. I use this perhaps 70% of the time. Loaded with a Derby, it gives a close, smooth shave. Works wonderfully with a Swedish Gillette or a Polsilver if you want something a bit sharper.

I use the Futur when I wake up and my shaving mojo tells me that I just have to experience something a bit different. The Futur has a great sound when it cuts the whiskers....it is very smooth too, but you have to be vigilant when you use it, as you probably already know....it's not too forgiving.

In the end I use the 38c more because I can just relax with it. It just seems to "fit."

the sound the vision makes is scary, as if the blade is flexing, you wonder when its going to fold over and take off a chunk of your face, i guess thats what makes shaving with it fun,
