So I have been looking on the auction site for some really cheep vintage razors that might not be in the best condition but after a little scrubbin' and lovin' are good finds. At any rate...came across this beauty this weekend so I went ahead and picked it up for a sawbuck. It was advertised as a "Vintage Gillette 1951 W3 USA Safety Razor." Well it might be vintage, and it might be a Gillette, and it most certainly is a safety razor...but I don't think it is a 1951. Also, the Date Code is W4 and not W3. But with the black handle I am pretty sure it is a 1976 Gillette Black handle Super Speed. All being said, yes I would have liked the 1951 Black Tip instead but for $10 bucks I can hardly complain.
So there is a lot of green tarnish, but I think it will scrub off pretty easy with some Dawn and a toothbrush. My only real complaint is that one of the doors opens to a certain point and then hangs up. I think this might be corrected with the cleaning because I think it is gummed up pretty good. Anyway...just thought I would share.
