Pirate show at treasure island is long gone. Leased the real estate for development.

Honeslty I would avoid Circus Circus like its the plague. Place is so old and just blah.

M&M factory is a must, MGM lions, NY NY is incredible, Excalibur is a joy to stroll thru, Luxor is wicked amazing to wonder around, go to the top of the stratosphere at night, Hoover dam, bellagio fountain show, the Linq ride might be open now.

Get ready to talk to him about porn. Sun goes down and you're gonna be given all the free prostitute magazines you can stomach and I'm not joking either. Used to have incredible arcades in Treasure Island. Caesars two marble statue shows are neat and free. See them in the forum shops. Wonder around the canals of the Venetian.

I stayed at the Luxor last time, I can attest it is pretty great!

If you and he are into cars, there's the Carrol Shelby Museum and the Shelby Factory tour.

There also is (or was when I was there in '09) the Classics car museum in the Imperial Palace (supposedly one of the biggest collections in the world), and one in the Caesars Forum, IIRC. There's a Ferrari dealership in the Wynn, too.

A kid would probably get a big kick out of some of the themed restaurants too -- Margaritaville, Toby Keith's (if you like country), Hard Rock, Planet Hollywood, Harley Davidson. The Peppermill is a fun blast of retro-vegas, but an 8 year old might not get it.

What about a helicopter ride over the city. Or a trip to Lake Mead.
I would consider hitting lake mead on the way to the grand canyon. Make a day of it and do not take a bus tour. I did take the bus, and it was a waste of time and money. I would have been better off renting a car and doing it on my own terms.

Sirens of TI (used to be the Pirate Show) and the Fountains at Bellagio are great free attractions that can be seen from the street.

Lots of street performers, light show, free concerts, and zipline on Fremont street (search The Fremont Street Experience). Freemont street is my favorite place to go in Vegas, I make a point to go there on every trip.

Chris Angel (illusionist/mentalist) and Jabbawokeez (dance group) shows at the Luxor. The Titanic exhibit is also at the Luxor (Bodies exhibit too, but might not be age appropriate).

Houdini Magic Shop at New York, New York.

Nascar Café.

M&M World store & Coka-Cola Store (next to each other)

Adventuredome (rides and roller coaster) and circus at Circus Circus. Also a roller coaster at New York, New York.

Tournament of Kings at the Excalibur.

Las Vegas natural History Museum, north of The Strip.

This thread is making me really want to go to Vegas again. So many things I missed!

Yup pirate show and the siren show is gone. I LOVED seeing that every time I went to Las Vegas.

Mystere is a VERY good show and I agree, getting there early is one of the best side shows I've ever seen.

Ripping up people's tickets and randomly pulling a prop gun on people and forcing them to walk around with them. It's a riot.

Im a huge history buff, so there is the Titanic exhibit at Luxor. So many incredible relics from the ocean liner including the "big piece" which is a room filled wall of iron rivets and portholes of the Titanic hull.

I think Freemont Street is fun to walk down in the evening. They have a covered roof with light shows. I think they even have a zip line ... he'd love that.
