My First Boker!

I've been looking for a nice vintage pocket knife for awhile now.
For 5 bucks - who could say no?

I'm pretty sure the blades are not carbon, but rather stainless.
Does anyone know if the scratches in the spear blade can be polished out, or...?

Wonderful knife, and in very good condition. The scratches can be removed with progressive grit sandpaper (600, 800 1200, 2000, polish) but I think it looks great as is.

Scratches add character. And, you stole it at $5.

Yea, but the carbon blade versions are very sought after these days.
From what I've gleaned from a few knife forums this one is a 1960's model.
And you're right - scratches do add character - scratches stay but boy does it need a sharpening ;-)

Thanks!

On a side note - what are people using to sharpen a knife like this?
Just wondering what some of you prefer.

I use an edge pro to sharpen my small pocket knives, but this system is kind of pricey. There's lots of options. You could use a Lansky (easy to learn and not terribly expensive) or get a small handheld stone like a soft or hard Arkansas. (Semi steep learning curve but it's very enjoyable once you master it)
Very nice knife. Vintage bokers are my favorite straight razors to use. The steel is sooo good.....They take an incredible edge
