Firm Creams/Croaps: to scoop or not to scoop ?

Lathering firm creams/croaps like SMN, AdP, Xpec, can be done in various ways, such as lathering directly from the tub vs lathering a transferred dollop of product in a separate bowl, each method having its own merits.

Lathering directly from the tub skips a step, but will cause some lather to spill onto the sides of the container. Moreover, with successive shaves, water may eventually seep into the product, adulterating it, even potentially rendering it somewhat "soupy".

Personally, I see more advantages to lathering scooped product in a separate bowl.

How about you fellows ?

Lately I've found it works well to transfer a dollop to the scuttle - just like using cream.

I only use my face as a bowl when I'm traveling.

I still view lathering cream from its container to be a bizarre and unsanitary practice, and as such, I don't do it. I like to keep the cream clean and untouched until I use it.
