Boar Re-Handled

A friend of mine wanted a decent boar brush. I finished this for him, yesterday.

I used a knot from an Omega 49, set at 60mm., and a piece of Red Deer antler for the handle.

very nice! what did you use for the finish? oil base, or latex varnish? or something else? maybe just wax? love the piece of antler. looks great!

I added some colour to the antler with an oil based stain.

Other than that, it has just been polished and waxed.

Dude I've been trying to get my omega 49 knot out of that handle for ever. How did you do it?
Steve's method in the linked thread certainly works, but a less destructive way is drill a small hole in the base of the handle and use a thin punch to drive out the knot.

I actually used a 10d nail and filed the point flat so it didn't drive into the epoxy plug of the knot on my 10065. See here: http://badgerandblade.com/vb/showth...ing-with-my-first-brush?p=7370097#post7370097
