It was late in 1921 that they made that change from the examples I've seen -- somewhere around the 600K mark (out of ~860K that they made that year) if I'm remembering correctly.
Nice score. I haven't seen one with the matching knob like that other than the reference section.
Very nice. Congrats.
I have a Silver Tuckaway from the earlier production with the same knurling on the knob as the handle S/N 233353A from 1921.
Something I didn't realize until I read through some threads on here.
where's the best place to get the Gilette new? Keyword?
Thanks.
Yup! When I first saw it I began the usual research, only to find no match, even in Achim's site.
Pics from your Tuckaway, sir?
You like it?
Here you go a photo from a previous SOTD, the pattern on the handle matches the knob on the end.
Yes I love the razor it was very black with tarnish when I got it.
I was about to ask you for pics... VERY nice one, sir!
How do you like it?
And your case is in excellent condition, too.
Thanks. That pickup was pure luck. I will never do that well again at an antique store. It shaves great. The case has a scuff on the under side. Also you can barely see "to Dad" marked into the top. Which I think is cool.
