So, I have started a trade for a king cutter. I want to do a little back ground on them. How do you tell the age on them? I don't think it's a mint vintage, but just wondered how to tell. Any remarks on these?
FWIW, I have a recent Boeker King Cutter that I picked up when I visited the Boeker factory store in Solingen, back in the summer of 2013. It was a trade-show demo piece that was discounted as such. A few laps on a coticule and it was good to go! From this, I'm of the opinion that the recent vintage is pretty good. The clerk there told me that for a while they had neglected the straight razor section, but then, a younger member of the firm took an interest and the output has improved under his direction.
To see the boeker factory would be amazing. I'm glad to hear there new straights are awsome, but I know I cannot afford one! I believe I got lucky with this trade as it will be my first straight razor. And hopefully not my last. Now to find a full wedge to restore.
