This question applies mostly to the recent converts to safety/straight shaving, as I imagine anyone doing this for forty years probably isn't as obsessed with how their shave now compares with Joe Average on the street.
I've hated shaving ever since I had to start, eventually giving up and growing facial hair to not have to deal with the hassle. Since starting the best journey of my life at the beginning, every shave has resulted in me critically analysing my face afterwards for comfort, closeness, nicks, etc.
Now I'm pretty happy with the quality of shave I get from either my DEs or barber razor, I find myself not only touching my face non-stop (a crime I know we're all guilty of), but even worse, peering intently at the jaws and necks of every other man I come into contact with. Obviously shaving differs greatly for every person, but just as I can't stop analysing my own face, nor can I stop myself from wondering about theirs.
Have they shaved? Does it look like a close shave? Does it look comfortable? Any redness/ingrown hairs? Is my shave actually any 'better' than theirs?
Sometimes they catch me. Sometimes they don't
If I could get away with it, I know I would likely touch each of their faces and demand "When did you shave? How did you do it?!", which sadly, I probably do in fact do with men I know fairly well.
So...is it just me?
TPL ("the face-stalker") out!
