Nice, interesting, but I find it a bit expensive.

I appreciate the nice and interesting part (thanks); additionally I want to say that I take no offense at the comment on the suggested price. I simply offer that the valuation of FatBoys is hard to keep track of lately. I assigned a price and decided to see what kind of interest I could spark.

I come from a background where bartering is par for the course, so the price you see posted is not necessarily the price you pay. I would invite all my B&B colleagues to PM me with queries and requests for price negotiations (anyone who has done business with me can attest that I am not too difficult to work with )

B&B has been very good to me, so I always try to be good in return and work with people whenever I can.

I dont mean to offend you but that razor is a shaver, not a shower. Its a bit on the scratched side (most likely looks a lot worse with the flash right up to it than it does in your hand), and its missing the black on the numbers. A tad bit high on the price. no offense. Overall, FATBOYS ARE GREAT RAZORS, and this will make somebody very happy.

yeah I was just going to say the same thing. This is a "user" grade fb and $50 really is for minty ones.

That's what I wanted to say, and why I find it expensive.
I look and wait regullary for a fatboy, and I saw others selled for less $, and in better condition.

No offense, of course, just to say: interested, but not at this price.

What does "$50 really is for minty ones" mean, please?

I believe it means that $50 isn't a bad price for a minty Fat Boy.

There is no getting around the fact that the flash is very unforgiving of any and all imperfections, and indeed, it does look very nice in the hand (I appreciate you conceding that point Jay and thank you for the considerate wording of your reply). NOT to start a back-and-forth, because you sound like a nice guy and I'd rather call you friend than not, but I must say that one presumptive statement did offend me -- the razor is not missing any black on the numbers (that is an artifact of the flash from the camera). I would have preferred if you had simply inquired prior to making an assumption... But hey, I'm not so innocent and have no doubt done the same thing, so bygones be bygones.

For everyone else still reading (I admit I'm on my soapbox now), I would encourage you to read my earlier two posts. I did not say that this FB is the penultimate beauty, but rather just shy of show. No where in there is "minty" "like new" "pristine" or "without imperfections"... We all have to accept the fact that there is no international standard for the subjective grading of razor cosmetics. In retrospect, I can only humbly submit my overenthusiastic description as being a human error and asking for a pass. If it needs to be said then here it goes, "Mea culpa." I was not trying to be intentionally deceptive - that's why I posted pics of the darn thing!

Under the environmentally conscious, though somewhat off-tinge light of the CF bulb in my office the razor looks really very pretty. I respect everyone's autonomy and defend your right to not agree with what is an opinion. I would also go so far as to say that by no means should you feel it incumbent upon yourselves to make someone feel like crap for trying to sell a razor that looked very pretty when he held it in his hand and lovingly cleaned it. And as I said before, I'm from the school of thought that people here barter. I take care not to defy the B/S/T rules of conduct so I would not attempt to make this an auction, but I do expect people to have some decorum and PM me to say they think a lower price would be more appropriate.

So here's the thing -- I was only looking to get about $40 for the razor (all fees inclusive) but imagined that would be through a process of bumping and lowering the price to spurn interest or by private negotiating with an interested purchaser.

Sorry all. I really love B&B and defend everyones' 1st Amendment rights, but I've had a really crap week.

"Minty" should probably read "Mint" which, at least from what I know, means really closed to new, unused as you can get without it still being in a sealed container and never used.

I agree this price is high. I sold one for $35 on here. If this one goes for $50, I think I should have held out for more!

I regret the fact you feel offended; may be it's a good price and my amateurism made me say something wrong.
But I cannot pay 50$+shipping, I find it too much...

Honestly, when these sell for this price on eBay, they usually also have a case. But some things go for crazy prices. I just scored what looks to be a nice ball-end NEW with a case for about $16 with shipping (although someone has pointed out it might not be the original handle), while a really clean looking one in a cardboard box sold for nearly $100. I really wanted the nice one, but wasn't willing to go above $20. Apparently others were.

No worrys. It must be product of the flash that you cant see the black on the numbers but in the picture, it does look like there is absolutely no black on the numbers. If you say theyre is, we all take your word for it, because we're all honest here on the b/s/t (and if somebodys not, theyre tar and feathered). I'll add one tid bit of info. I think over the past few months we've come to the conclusion that mint is unused, ever, usually in a clean case. Mint has to be of the utmost quality without a single inperfection in the mirror finish. Thats the only good info I have, which doesnt pertain to this sale, just for future reference.

There was alot of talk in the previous few months and have decided that members should step up when it comes to prices and voice their opinions. Thats what makes the bst great. I mean we've all seen somebody come up on here and throw up a fat boy for 250$ Anyways, like I said before, Fat boys are great razors. Good luck with the sale. It will not dissapoint anybody.

I think it is of very bad taste to comment on the pricing of fellow memebers, i think its very rude, i think skydivemd has all the right to price for however as much he thinks his razor is worth to him, i believe if you don't like it you should just pass....i think bad publicity has been created and the post has gone to a not very good place.
Recently i have seen fatboys and also the longer slimmer version going for as much as $90, maybe they had a case...maybe not....anyway....whatever....

No, we are both at fault. If you are interested, I'd like to make amends. PM me and we can discuss what you think this razor is worth. Perhaps we can come to an agreement.

I personally don't think the price of this razor is super out of line. A bit high maybe but not terribly so. I've seen members here offer Fatboys from anywhere between Free PIF's and $60. And I am not talking about the mint ones all the time. You can expect to pay anywhere between $30 and $55 for an excellent condition fatboy even on these forums. Do a little search and you will see what i mean. A fatboy with all the paint on the numbers, no brassing or pitting, adjusts nicely and looks sweet shiny is IMHO in excellent condition. This razor has some brassing under the Silo door by what the OP said so maybe $50 is a little much but it doesn't seem like he is trying to get one over on anyone, more so an man unsure of what to charge, he has also offered to negotiate with perspective buyers, you can't ask a man for too much more than that.

    Rick,

    pictures speak a thousand words.

If you would post several really nice pictures presented in a valued way then it's no harm to ask whatever price you think it's worth. But when trying to sell an item that doesn't really show it's true value it's hard for many people to get an idea especially how the razor really looks if you're trying to get a fair value.

Too much flash, wrong light, unsharp, ... is what many do wrong and really doesn't do any good. It brings up issues as seeing imperfections which are normally absent or non existing but do show up due to poor light and photography.

You don't have to be a pro photographer to do this. Just look around in this forum and look how some members have presented nice looking pictures.

I'm hoping this thread can now just peter off and be gone with. Think I might just re-list the FB with a few mods to the description.
