I switched from a DE to a straight too. now when im going for a quick shave with my de even with a fresh blade it leaves razorburn....

Now before you spend any $$ on hones you may consider the Feather Artist Club shavette. It's probably the be-all/ end-all shave in terms of closeness. I have the Feather AC & I have a couple of regular straights along with a quality set of hones, lapping film, CrOx, & a strop. Sometimes I think I should have just stopped with the Feather when I look back at the cost of strops/hones & the frustration of learning to strop & hone with no guidance.

I shave regularly with both DE and straights. DEs are my primary method when on the road. I've come around with straights, and for me, I long for them when I'm travelling. Having a smooth and keen straight simply provides me a shave like no other, even if I don't do enough passes to get perfect BBS. The smoothness and comfort is simply unsurpassed if the time is taken to tune straight shaving in.
