Crap, I knew this would happen. Oh sure, try a double edge razor...then start restoring brushes... Then get into buyin and restoring straights.... Only one thing left to do... Which is why I just bought.

I think that would be very hard to shave with. Do you leave the razor stationary and move your face over it?

That is a wee bit bigger than the chuck of steel I use for peening! Nice anvil. How much does it weigh?

A hunk of Swedish steel! Thanks should make a 1,678,892/8ths blade!

Or cut it into chunks and forge a bunch of CVH knock offs. You could make a fortune!

150 lb. perfect for making straight razors...

Can't wait to see what comes off of it!

It'll take a lot of heat and a ton of pounding to turn that into one massive blade!

Anvils aren't all that hard to come by around here. Old steel town. I have neither the room nor the money that it takes to get one.

I have to admit. I am almost tempted to see if I can put a keen edge on that anvil.... Almost.

With an anvil like that I would make a few Japanese razors.
All you need is a hammer, tongs and a torch.

The kamisori is interesting, I have forged many chisels. I think it is the basic design. Japanese also do chef's knives with a similar edge and I think they are meant specifically for left or right hand use. I'll bet the kamisori is specific to left or right. I would like to hear about your findings as you make one .
