Tomorrow's hotel shave. That is Monsavon, a restored ER travel brush with a 16mm TGN 2 band Finest, and a Travel Tech head on a Bakelite handle.
RAZOR: 1907 Single Ring (silver)
BLADE: Astra SP
BRUSH: Strong Set (restored with a WD black badger knot)
SOAP: Maggard Limes & Bergamot
AS: Barbasol Pacific Rush
Tomorrow morning is one of my most anticipated shaves. The Single Ring is a razor I've wanted for quite a while. Why? I'm not sure, it was on my RAD list?
I found this beautiful 1907 (serial #895735) on Etsy for $20 (+shipping). It was pretty dark and tarnished as you can see. But, it was sound and, best of all, no crack.
After subjecting it to the "aluminum foil-baking soda-boiling water" cleaning method, 99% of the tarnish just disappeared. A tiny bit of Maguiar's All-Metal polish (recommended by Cap'n Murphy) and she's back to near "showroom" condition (well, almost). The pic does not truly show how shiny and silver this razor is. It gleams almost like chrome.
To fit with the age of the razor, the background picture here is Youngstown, Ohio (where I live) in 1910.

Pre: Hot Water 1min and my homemade Oat&Honey&clover olive soap (yes I'm also a soapmaker)
Razor: Merkur Progress @2 (I'm always amazed of I can have such close shave at this low setting...)
Blade: Astra SP (2)

AS: Proraso White and after 10min Floid Blue

MdC today. 20 seconds to load the ER Silvertip. Great, easy, thick, lather. “Spoiler” in the Red Tip. Nice smooth, close, shave. I finished Country Club Modern Fougere.
