What's new

Las Vegas residents.

I need help. What do you wear spring/summer, fall/winter in the desert? I love woody and herbal scents but it just seems wrong in the abcence of both. I'm new to Las Vegas and the desert. My budget is $100 or less.

My Summer Frags are:

1. Acqua di Parma Colonia- and Essenza
2. Dior Eau Sauvage
3. Tom Ford Grey Vetiver
4. Guerlain Vetiver
5. Mugler Cologne

Thierry Mugler A-MEN Pure Malt .. around $89 for the 100ml online , smells INCREDIBLE !!

the TM Pure Malt is more of a fall/winter scent .. for summer I would recommend Dolce & Gabanna The One or Perry Ellis 360 Red ( less than $25 for 3.4oz on Target.com )

I would consider D&G's The One to be a cold-weather scent as well. Its definitely a heavier woody, sweet, tobacco scent. I have its "Gentleman" flanker as well, I'd consider it a cold-weather fragrance too.

For summer in the desert, where you have very hot, dry heat, I would aim for something a little little brighter. Dior Eau Sauvage is a great recommendation. Bvlgari Aqva would be a good one - it has green-aquatic notes, with a little bit of melon. On the days where its not 80 degrees plus, I think Guerlain Vetiver would be a good addition as well. If you're looking for something for the evening, maybe date night or something, I'd suggest a clean fougere: Azzaro Pour Homme (the Summer Edition, or the L'Eau if its really hot, the original if its not), or YSL Rive Gauche. If still enjoy the sweeter, woodier, fragrances, but don't want one that will choke you out in the heat, Laura Biagiotti Roma Uomo should be perfect. As always, what works for one may not for the other. Your best bet is to try some things out before you commit, however nothing I've mentioned should cost you more than $60 if you purchase through FragranceNet or FragranceX. I hope this helps.

Pardon my snow-bound intrusion ... hopefully it gets you even more thoughtful suggestions in this thread, though!

I've been to Vegas a couple of times ... much of which was spent in the artificial, dreamland world of The Strip: casinos, restaurants, shopping malls ... that could be anywhere.

But ... outside of that, the impression I get of Vegas is dry, dusty desert. A couple of scents I always associate with that are leather and tobacco ... that sort of "cowboy in the desert" sort of stuff, if you will. So to me, a "sharp, dry" scent that has one or both of those scents prominent could be a good choice.

You may want to give Knize 10 a sample, among others.

Best of luck!

Oddly enough, I'll be in Vegas in a couple weeks. Need to stop in and try a few things. I'm out of Grey Vetiver, that's reason enough to go in there, right?

YES that's more than enough reason to go in the TF store .. Please post back about the location and how the store was. Thanks!

Spring/Summer; Paco Robanne Pour Homme EDT, Caron Pour Un Homme, Penhaligon's Blenheim Bouquet, Vintage Canoe, Vintage Wild Country, and some Salvador Dali Agua Verde.

The Fall/ Winter; Vintage Polo Green, Vintage Aramis Original, Vintage Brut/ Faberge, Vintage Francesco Smalto EDT, Tabac EDC, and Lolita Lempicka Eau de Minuit/ Midnight Fragrance.

Not to mention a few Drugstore type Aftershaves for the Weekend at home; Tabac, Skin Bracer Original, Cool Spice, Burnished Leather; Avon Cordovan, Tai Winds, and Tribute.

I love the vintage stuff, a little goes a long way, and it doesn't fade in less than 7-10 hours.

It gets hot here in the summers. 95 plus is a norm. If not 100 plus. My latest acquisition is the aqva Amara which is AMAZING! And I have around 70 bottles in my collection so far. Niche and designer. Here are some good designers.

1: bvlgari aqva amara $27
2: mugler cologne $35
3: Dior homme cologne $70
4: perry Ellis 360 red $20
5: bleu de Chanel $95
6: club de nuit intense man (black cap) aventus clone. $40

These are some good ones that are cheap ones. No niche in there.

Howdy!!! We (wife and I) LOVE Vegas and have a second place out there...waaaay out on West Charleston, out by the Badlands Golf Course/ Queensridge area.
