I've been spending more time in N.Y.C. lately and observing this fashion trend firsthand! I have even taken to growing a beard myself although it is not a full beard but rather more of a goat-tee as there are a few places on my face that just don't grow any hair and those places are not even from side to side! Anyway, beards and a nice, high tapered haircut are becoming the norm in places like N.Y.C. and it is fascinating to observe! Stone Cottage Soapworks has some nice shaving cream to keep these cheeks and under necks smooth and tidy!

And now.... a set of instructions on what to wear!

I think it's hilarious. I grew up and still live in the backwoods. I own enough Filson to blow the average persons clothing budget out of the water, AND wear it to work daily. My only suspenders are 2" wide, and made out of canvas and leather. My footwear is Danner and Red Wing, and I actually own chainsaws. Even 5 years ago, most of these "trenders" would have looked at me like I was homeless, holding a sign and had dog doo on my shoe. Now it's the new look. Love it.

I keep finding more and more of this look online and seeing it all over the streets of Manhattan when I come in to stay at our Tribeca apartment on the off days of the week! This look is so reflective of fashion 100 years ago!

looks like a resurgence of 1920's Egbert style haircuts to me. With some modern twists of course. Think of this with a bit more refinement;

Saw the title and thought it may have something to do with those of us who live in Lumberton...

My next shaving purchase will be from Stone Cottage -- trying to support local artisans. I'm particularly intrigued by the lavender and incense shave creams you offer.
