I have a Black Beauty coming up in my rotation I think next Wednesday. I think that blade has 5 shaves on it already, and it's last shave was pretty rough (maybe it wasn't the blade's fault). If I get a nice shave out of it next week, I will consider changing my choice to the Black Beauty - but based on the last shave, I'm not over-confident .

I think it might be interesting to see how your Chinese Wilky holds up against the others. I never even know there was a Chinese Wilky

Ok. I will bite. Just sent Ye Olde PM. If I can grab a P74 still, I will play with a Fasan Double Slant two passes (WTG ATG) per day, every day and see how Element 74 truly works.

Ok, I'm changing my blade choice and joining Team Treet Black Beauty. I planning to use it as normal, just rinsing with water, until such time as it won't shave anymore. If that time comes, I own an Aloxite No. 45 that I bought in 2013, but have never tried. If the blade becomes un-shavable through normal use, I will give the Axolite a try.

Has anyone gotten more than 7 days from a carbon steel blade (besides jamespro, as his whiskers are made out of unicorn tears mixed with Arko)

A bit depending on the razor I get up to 12 shaves from a (red) Captain. Usually blades go out after 3-4 shaves here but this one I can use forever it seems.

Oh now... . Actually, I've got a pretty stiff beard. It's all in the prep, man!

On carbon blades, I've only tried the Treet Carbon, and I wasn't too impressed. I need to try another to make sure I didn't get a dud, but it was not very sharp, that's for sure. I think I used it for 3-4 shave - went downhill quickly.

I'm in with one of the P74s, too! Fun!

Wheh...a year..now that would be something. I'm a daily shaver, so that'd be pretty tough..but who knows...

I'll try to top my record of 83 shaves from a Derby last year, but I have a cruise scheduled on 8 April. If the blade lasts that long, it may be difficult to continue, but I'll try.

I still think this Derby run is quite an achievement, as I told you in last years thread. 83 shaves on a Derby is IMHO at least comparable to Micks 100+ (4 pass) shaves on the Personna 74. The reputation of the Derby isn't the best around here, to say the least...

Have fun, but not for me. I love the cheap little luxury of switching out my blade every 3-4 shaves. I prep like a madman, and still the blades don't last for me.

I've decided to go all in. One blade, one razor, one brush, one soap & one aftershave.
